Our Statement of Faith
The Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God, and it serves as our rule for faith and life.
God is one God in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God the Son, while remaining fully God, took on our human nature and became one of us, though without sin.
God created the heavens and the earth, and humankind was created in the image and likeness of God. Because of Adam’s sin humankind is separated from God and unable on its own to be reconciled to God.
The sacrificial death and bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ has provided the only means of reconciliation with God, which is why we call Him Savior.
Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and now reigns at God’s right hand, which is why we call him Lord.
Through Jesus’ redemption, all of creation can be claimed and restored through the Spirit. Therefore, we are ambassadors of Christ’s Kingdom in all aspects of society.
Salvation is God’s free gift based upon the work of Christ, and this gift is affected by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of people and received by faith in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ will come again to judge the living and the dead. The righteous–those who are justified by faith in Christ–will inherit eternal life and the wicked–those who remain in their wickedness because they reject Christ–will be condemned eternally.
We believe that the local church plays the central role in the fulfillment of the Great Commission and that the spiritual unity of believers comprises the one body of our Lord Jesus Christ.
People who are apart from God matter to God, and therefore matter to the church. For this reason, it is the Christian’s and the church’s responsibility to proclaim the gospel in word and deed, by every means possible, through a life of holiness, service and love.
PHP will honor and integrate the following core values in all we do:
- Christ-centered (2 Corinthians 5:20)
- Life Changing/Transforming through education (Romans 12:2)
- Missional – proclaiming the gospel by serving people in relevant ways (1 Peter 4:10)
- Relational – building and valuing personal relationships and relationships with God (1 Corinthians 13:4-5)
- Intentionally Inclusive and Diverse – ethnically and culturally (1 Corinthians 1:10)
- Excellence (Colossians 3:23-24)
When a collection of Bible Study and Prayer groups began serving the Pullman community in 2011, People Helping People of Pullman was born. This led to a dream that there would one day be a dedicated space for their ministry, a space where the people of Pullman could come, free of charge, to get involved, connect, have fun and receive services and information to benefit their well-being.
In November of 2012, donations toward a property to make that dream a reality began to come in. By 2015, the property was purchased, and in June of 2016, Overisel Reformed Church’s youth group helped clear the property in preparation of the December 2 ground breaking for the construction of what would become The Linking Center. Named by Pullman Elementary’s 5th grade class, on June 24 of 2018, The Linking Center celebrated it’s Grand Opening with over 700 community members.
Today, People Helping People of Pullman serves many from the Pullman community by offering, through The Linking Center, a quality, free of charge place to get involved and connect, to have fun, and to receive services and information that benefit their well-being.
